Uncork Charleston

Our TasteMakersCHS gang was so excited to be invited to experience Upper King’s newest Wine Bar- Uncork! Owner Mark greeted the group and introduced us to Uncork’s selection of 40 wines from all over the world, available in 1, 3 & 6 oz. pours. Upon arrival, guests are given a credit card with the ability to swipe and pour their own wines in whatever portion they are looking to try. At the end of their night, they then bring the card to the front and pay by the oz. A curious crew, the majority of us TasteMakers chose to sample a variety of whites, roses and reds- some dry, others sweet, in one oz. pours so we could sip and sample plenty of varietals without falling over.
Chef Ace who while new to Uncork certainly isnt new to Charleston’s dining scene, then brought out the group a variety of specialty crostinis that were just as gorgeous as the wine bar’s interiors. A favorite of the group was the one below, topped with burrata, prosciutto, black caviar and truffle pearls. Truffle pearls may just be my few favorite ingredient.
Next up, we were treated to one of the most luxurious Charcuterie boards we have ever seen. We especially loved all the garnishes that accompanied it like cucumbers, strawberries, pecans, pickles, olives and grapes. The cheeses ranged from a Drunken Goat from Holland to a Manchego from Spain alongside mouthwatering meats like dry cured Duck Salami. We are so thankful that Uncork agreed to be a part of our TastemakersCHS charity initiative, with $1 from every Charcuterie/Cheese board sold Oct. 2-14 going directly to A21 Heart for Freedom to help in the fight against Human Trafficking. The only thing better than devouring the best meats and cheeses around is devouring while giving back at the same time!
In addition to customizable Charcuterie Boards, Uncork’s menu also features an assortment of bites to nibble on alongside your wine, like Cherry Peppers stuffed with Provolone and Prosciutto, Olive Tapenade and Hummus. You can even order a tin of Black Capelin Iceland Caviar for the table if you really wanna ball out! We can’t wait to come back to try Chef Ace’s desserts as well which sound amazing- like Royal Almond Sponge Cake and Macaroons. Thanks again to Uncork for hosting us!
