Revival

This Thursday our foodie tribe was treated to one of the most generous meals to date- an eight-course tasting menu at The Vendue Hotel’s new restaurant Revival. Focusing on ingredients from South Carolina (such as Jimmy Red grits), the modern space serves Southern dishes that are equally as delicious as they are beautiful. The plates are some of the most artfully-plated and stunning we have ever seen- mimicking the colorful and distinct artwork found covering the walls of The Vendue.
After being told we would all be treated to a small bite of eight dishes, we quickly realized that the night was a marathon not a sprint when the first plates came out in what appeared to be full portions. Our favorite was easily the She Crab Soup. Why? Not only does it rival the best in town, but $1 from every order sold through the end of the month goes to the Beautiful Gate Center- a developmental learning center for children and youth with autism and other developmental disabilities currently fundraising to break ground in Charleston.

Oysters Rockefeller: creamed collards, bacon lardons, parmesan, toasted herb crumbs
Burrata & Holy City Tomato Salad: preserved and raw tomatoes, burrata, basil seed glee
William Dea’s She Crab Soup: lump crab, crab roe, sherry
Lump Crab Cake Remick: whole-grain brandy mustard sauce, no fillers
Lowcountry Pirlou: butter-poached lobster, crab, shrimp, Carolina Gold rice, sweet peas, garlic aioli
Pan-Seared Grouper: field pea succotash cake, charred okra, country-ham tomato butter
Layered Chocolate Trifle: toasted coconut, chocolate pudding, ladyfingers, chocolate mousse, peanuts, caramel
