Located at the top of Burwell’s Stonefire Grill, Balao Seafood is a seafood speakeasy if you will, serving up a variety of seafood including an impressive raw bar, shareable small plates and cocktails focusing on Rum and Tequila, all offered year-round. To visit Balao, guests enter through Burwell’s, head to the back of the restaurant and up the stairs to the second floor.

The amazing Owner Kenneth Emm, Executive Chef Nathan Davenport and Chef Matt LeBoeuf treated our Tastemakers gang to an evening for the books! Due to weather we experienced the Balao menu on the first floor of Burwell’s intimate and cozy space. See below for some of the unique plates we tried, along with some specials from Burwell’s menu.

As part of our TastemakersCHS charity partnership program, Balao decided on two winning appetizers! $1 from every order of both the restaurant’s amazing Blue Crab Fondue and Blue Alabama Crab Beignets (pictured below) will be donated to People Against Rape (PAR) next week to help support survivors and victims of sexual assault in the Lowcountry.
