Jack of Cups Saloon

Folly Beach may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of Asian and Indian cuisine, but the welcoming and slightly quirky atmosphere on The Edge of America creates a perfect haven for this concept to thrive. Enter Jack of Cups Saloon. Our TastemakersCHS met up at this Folly hotspot this month and were BLOWN AWAY by their cuisine, drinks and top notch staff!

Where to start? You can’t help but feel alive here. The fact that you’re within walking distance of the beach starts this experience off on a high note. The restaurant has a funky, easygoing vibe without losing professionalism. You feel at home but still feel like you’re being treated to something special. The food is just awe-inspiring.

Each dish is of the utmost quality- bursting with creativity, boldness, and intentionality. Their menu is vegetarian and vegan forward, but they cater to the meat aficionados too! Their cocktails follow a similar pattern- inventive and refreshing with a touch of island flare. Despite how fantastic the ambiance, service and cuisine is, you won’t break the bank here.

Yes, somehow Jack of Cups does it all. What’s even more fascinating is that they change their menu every season and reportedly knock it out of the park every time. Allow us to dive into some of the divine dishes and drinks we got the opportunity to try:

Barrier Island Iced Tea- Local Nippitaty Gin, spiced rum, blanco tequila, orange liqueur, pomegranate molasses and lime juice. This baby is tart, boozy and has layers of interesting flavors.

The Pickle Martini- yup, you read that right. Your choice of local Cannon Vodka or Hendrick’s Gin, dry vermouth, lemon juice, pickle juice and a pickle slice. Truly a pickle and/or martini lover’s dream.

Spring Rolls- fresh strawberries, creamy goat cheese, crispy cucumber, leafy greens and fresh herbs served with (and here’s the real kicker) peanut butter BBQ sauce. We can’t explain it. It just works.

Hoisin Meatballs- all beef meatballs made with romano cheese, marinated in a hoisin sauce, covered in fortune cookie aioli and served with a scallion and furikake garnish. First of all how cool does fortune cookie aioli sound?! The meatballs are rich and packed with oodles of flavor, but they aren’t too heavy to the point where they leave you feeling overstuffed. May we add very photogenic?

Cashew Chutney & Teriyaki Toast- cashew chutney made in house, served on crunchy sourdough with a sweet and spicy teriyaki drizzle, dill pickle and fresh herbs on top. Can’t say we knew cashew chutney was a thing before, but we sure are glad to know now! Genius!

Olive Oil & Asparagus Toast- toasted pumpernickel bread topped with whipped goat cheese (the best kind), fresh herbs, pickled mustard seeds and black. truffle. hot. sauce. Everyone knows truffle and goat cheese make the best couple, but when you add hot sauce it’s NEXT LEVEL. The hearty bread and fresh asparagus balance the big flavors out perfectly.

As part of our Charity Partnership Program, Jack of Cups Saloon agreed to donate $1 from every Red Curry Mac to Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center, and $1 from every Tangria to Lowcountry Orphan Relief for 30 days. Run- don’t walk there TODAY!
