Bull & Finch
By Megan James, CharlotteBergerPR
“Not your father’s” Bull & Finch recently opened in Mount Pleasant’s Indigo Square on the first of September, featuring both a large bar area for more casual dining, as well as a second, more-high end room for an elevated experience.
The name rings a bell to many as the restaurant was in service years ago, but is now back and better than before. With the new opening and brand new menu, Bull & Finch takes gastro pub grub to a whole new level.
Our Tastemakers crew got to experience this first hand with the chance to try a whopping 3 large salads, 7 apps, 7 mouthwatering entrées and 3 to-die-for desserts rolling out of Chef Brandon’s kitchen (who formerly was the Chef of Middleton Place, Blossom and Tradd’s).
The salads at Bull & Finch are unmatched. Whether you are looking for a filling starter, or maybe a dinner on the lighter side, there is something for all. The Mediterranean Chilled Farro Salad was a crowd pleaser with sun dried tomatoes and a delicious herb vinaigrette. Of course we cannot forget about those Goat Cheese fritters on the SC Strawberry and Arugula salad. insert drooling emoji here
One of the best things about Bull & Finch is their portion size. Talk about some BANG for your buck! The Smoked Chicken Wings drizzled in gorgonzola sauce were one of the team’s favorites.
The Funghi Rustic Toast, topped with locally grown mushrooms, and goat cheese from Split Creek Farm, was our favorite dish of the night! Why? Because $1 of every dish sold his month goes to The McConnell Foundation (operated by the team at McConnell Real Estate Partners) to help support pediatric cancer research in CHS.
When it comes to entrées, you might want to request a to-go box ahead of time. The portions are HUGE, like their Pork Osso Bucco. Slow cooked in cider and brandy braising jus, the meat truly melts in your mouth.
We have never met a larger serving of Fish & Chips. Just LOOK at that gigantic cut of flakey, crispy fish! And don’t skimp on the duck fat fries on the side, served drizzled with a mouthwatering bacon & duck fat aioli.
After a meal like that, who could possibly fit anything else in their stomach? The answer is us, of course.
We are strong believers that you cannot go wrong with Bread Pudding, Carrot Cake or a Brownie Sundae, any day of the week!
Partnering with The McConnell Foundation this month brings us such joy as we know their are tons of kids in our own Charleston backyard tragically battling cancer. We are so excited to see the positive impact this Foundation will continue to make in our community! Don’t forget, $1 of every Funghi Rustic Toast goes to the Foundation through Dec. 4! And don’t miss their new brunch, now served every Saturday and Sunday beginning at 10 am!
