Bohemian Bull

For some of us Tastemakers, it was our first restaurant outing since March. For others, it was another fun summer evening full of small bites, refreshing drinks, live music and giving back to a worthy cause. But one thing we can all agree on is our taste buds were satisfied and our hearts full as we attended Warrior  Surf Foundation’s (WSF) Surfboard Auction Winner Reveal at Bohemian Bull right off of Folly Road. We are proud to announce that $25k was raised for WSF’s surf therapy, yoga and wellness program to help our nation’s Veterans struggling with PTSD and other mental health challenges.

For those who aren’t already familiar, Bohemian Bull offers an expansive outdoor patio as well as a pull-up-and-sit bar in the front of the restaurant. Complete with string lights and authentic wall decor, this pub sure knows how to give us ALL warm and sunny beach vibes.

Our Tastemakers tribe started our night trying a few cocktails, as well as some cold brews. I had the pleasure of trying the ‘Master “P”Eaches,’ made with fresh peaches, house made raspberry simple syrup, sauvignon blanc, soda water, and topped with a white daisy garnish. Not only did it taste great, but it looked as adorable as it sounds.

My friends dove into the rest of the specials, including a ‘Gin N’ Juice’, and a cocktail the Bull creates especially for the evening- the ‘Barreled Up with rum and coconut. The star drink of the night was the always delicious Island Coastal Lager (from Island Brands), as $1 from every one sold in August goes to WSF. Reason enough for us all to have a few 😉

Now, onto the food.. We were treated to a delicious array of appetizer-sized snacks which had no problem filling us up. First up was a Fried Mac & Cheese Bite, which pretty much speaks for itself. The Boom Boom Shrimp tossed in Spicy Thai Chili Sauce was definitely a crowd-pleaser, as was the Fried Green Tomato topped with Pimento Cheese and Chipotle BBQ Sauce (this is the south, remember?). The BOHO Deviled Eggs with Black truffle oil,  bacon, parmesan and chives did not disappoint.. Next up was a few wing options, of which you can choose from sauces like Thai Chili and Honey Sriracha, as well as dry rubs like citrus pepper, ranch and cajun. Finally, what had to be my favorite of the evening was the Breakfast Burger. This burger takes breakfast for dinner to a whole new level, made with hash browns, ketchup, an over easy egg, sausage patty, american cheese and maple syrup.

As great as the food, drinks, and atmosphere was, what made this night really special was the Warrior Surf Foundation Surfboard Auction Winner Reveal. Founded by Veterans for Veterans, the Warrior Surf Foundation provides surf therapy, yoga and wellness programs to Veterans struggling with PTSD, transitional issues and other mental health challenges. In addition to raising $25k for the program, Island Brands will be donating $1 of every Island Coastal Lager sold in August directly to the program. In addition to a variety of boards from surf shops like Rozbern, Secula Surf, guests also bid on two autographed boards from Jimmy Buffett’s private collection, in addition to a fly fishing charter from Charleston Fly, aluminum beach prints, a zipline package from Charleston ZIpline Adventures, a hand painted cork yoga mat from Yoloha Yoga + artist Mark Longnecker, and more.  I think it’s safe to say that Bohemian Bull, we’ll be back!
