Sommba Cocina & Wine Bar

This month our crew met up for dinner and drinks at the highly anticipated Sommba Cocina & Cellar, the new Coastal Mediterranean-inspired restaurant from the team who brought us SAVI Cucina + Wine Bar. We were lucky enough to dine at Sommba on its second day being open to the public, and the place was already bustling!
Sommba describes itself as having “small plates” and a “big cellar.” They serve up 30 wines by the glass and over 350 by the bottle, including a variety of wine flights, sangrias and porrons served in traditional Spanish wine pitchers that can be poured directly into guests’ mouths. Sommba also offers creative handcrafted cocktails and mocktails, including the Sommba 75, Mediterranean Margarita and Iberian Old Fashioned.
As we enjoyed our drinks and perused the menu, we nibbled on Cherry Wood Smoked Marcona Almonds and Mediterranean Olives, both popular bar fare in Spain. Our feast began with shared flavorful dishes like Patatas Bravas, Polenta Fries and Garlic Shrimp.
We also sampled heartier offerings like the crispy Confit Chicken Lollipops, tender Octopus a la Plancha and the aptly named Grande Lamb Meatball.
If we could offer a single piece of advice to anyone planning to dine at Sommba, it’s to save room for dessert. The Chocolate Torte, Baklava Cheesecake and Mediterranean Frozen Custard were unbelievably decadent and worth the trip alone.
From February 1 - March 1, Sommba will be generously donating $1 from each Wine Flight and bottle of wine sold to our Q1 charity partner, My Sister’s House. In addition to providing a safe shelter to domestic abuse survivors and their children since 1980, My Sister’s House also offers legal advocacy, group counseling and individual therapy, clinical support groups, community educational outreach and more.
