Community Table

While our Tastemakers meetups typically involve dinner, we jumped at the chance to try out Community Table’s new brunch menu, now served on both Saturdays and Sundays. Community Table is a local favorite in Mount Pleasant’s I’On neighborhood, and after our epic meal it was easy to see why. The space is cozy and chic, featuring a main dining room, outdoor patio and an enclosed side porch where our group sat.
As all proper Charleston brunches should, ours started with a round of cocktails. Community Table’s drink list is full of colorful creations with names to match, like Somewhere on a Beach (dark rum, orange and pineapple juices, fresh lime and a cranberry juice floater) and the Nancy Paloma (blanco tequila, fresh lime and grapefruit, simple syrup and a salted grapefruit slice). The real showstopper was the Ultimate Bloody Mary, garnished with everything from steak to onion rings to shrimp.
Then the food started to come out, and kept on coming! We were lucky enough to try every dish on the brunch menu, and picking a favorite is simply impossible. Community Table’s brunch offerings include classics like The I’On - eggs, bacon, home fries and sourdough toast with date butter- and the decadent Cast Iron Cinnamon Roll topped with cream cheese icing. We also loved the more unusual dishes like Cheddar & Ale Fondue with Breakfast Dippers (think polenta fries, bacon, sausage and green apple slices) and Breakfast BLT with a fried egg and everything bagel mayo.
Some of the brunch dishes also overlap with their all-day lunch and dinner menu, like the epic onion ring-topped CT Burger, a Crispy Rock Shrimp Po’ Boy served on authentic New Orleans Ledenheimer bread and The Cobb, a salad big enough to feed a crowd.
We also got a taste of one of their best selling all-day items, the rich and creamy Parmesan Risotto. This starter was also the charity giveback item from August 6-September 6, with $1 from each one sold going to The Green Heart Project. This local nonprofit provides urban farm-based experiential learning projects and school garden programs to educate students through growing, eating and celebrating food. During our meal we learned more about The Green Heart Project’s work from their Development Director Amanda Howell, and couldn’t be more excited to partner with this amazing organization for Q3!
