It was a night full of flights, bites, and bullseyes at Rusty Bull Brewing Co. when our crew stopped by the North Charleston favorite to test out the new menu items from chef Jennifer Kornahrens. We started with some flights of their beer, and the staff even taught us the best approach for sampling, explaining that we should clean our palates with a pilsner before testing the darker varieties like the Over Boar’d maple bacon stout. Thanks to participating in our Charity Partnership Program, $50 was raised for Going Places to help provide bikes to disadvantaged kids in Charleston!

The sheer size of the pretzel, which was the first plate to arrive out of the kitchen, caught everyone by surprise, and we loved the multiple dips on the side, from beer mustard to pimento cheese. Other favorites included the fried green tomatoes, homemade chips topped with bleu cheese crumbles and roasted peanut hummus.

Oh, and we can’t forget the Belly Itcher Basket, which comes fully loaded with a fried chicken sandwich, chicken strips, and two sides. As part of our TasteMakersCHS Charity Program, $1 from each basket sold through August 11th goes to the Going Places nonprofit whose mission is to provide disadvantaged kids in Charleston with new bikes.

Each dish tasted better alongside a house brewed beer, and chef Kornahrens even utilized the brewery’s Trip Hop Anonymous double IPA to make her chicken salad lettuce cups. After we filled up on suds and snacks, it was time for some axe throwing next door at Chuck Town Axe Throwing. The kitchen staff and crew of talented brewmasters made this a truly special evening!
