Mansueta's Filipino Food

By Charlotte Berger, @CharlotteBergerCHS

TastemakersCHS joined together at 132 Spring this month to taste the “Asian food that ignites the spirit” from Mansueta’s Filipino Food. Their small but mighty menu is packed with bold flavors that make you question why the heck you eat Italian food so often. Chef and Owner Nikko’s mouthwatering Half Chicken- best served “wet”, their vibrant purple “Halo-Halo Piña Colada“ and other bright Filipino dishes left us very full and very much in awe.

Of course, food always tastes better when the one who makes it is radiating with passion. Chef Nikko Cagalanan truly gives his all to every dish he creates. He’s inspired by the way food unites people and shows it by creating incredibly unique and memorable dining experiences for his guests. Unconventional is the name of the game with Mansueta’s. For those who don’t already know, instead of having a brick and mortar location or even a food truck, Nikko focuses on hosting private events and pop-ups at various locations around Charleston.

As part of our Charity Partnership Program, Mansueta’s agreed to donate $1 from every order of Inihaw Na Manok sold from September 4 to October 4 to Darkness to Light- a North Charleston-based nonprofit dedicated to creating a world free of child sexual abuse through awareness, education and stigma reduction.
