Jalisco Taqueria & Tequila
This month our TastemakersCHS team met up at neighborhood spot Jalisco Taqueria & Tequila to dive into all the authentic Mexican Cuisine, vast tequila options and abundant patio space they had to offer.
Jalisco’s wide variety of fresh salsas and fun appetizers enticed us from the start- like Pulpo (octopus) with avocado salsa and smashed plantains, Cangrejo Dip with lump grab, avocado and chipotle crema, and Aquachile de Vieriras (scallops, spicy verde and radish) enticed us from the start. All items on the menu are centered around traditional Mexican ingredients and techniques found in Jalisco, Mexico.
Jalisco’s extensive taco selection provides a little something for everyone- with classics like Carne Asada and Carnitas, vegetarian options like Avocado and Frijoles, and even Lengua- braised beef tongue. Their blue corn tortillas and healthy amount of toppings left us all stuffed and satisfied.
Then there were the margaritas. There are good margs in this world and then there are Jalisco’s margs. These babies contained a beautiful balance of boozy, tart and fruity flavors. It became dangerously clear that these would be easy to suck down. They’re certainly worth coming out for (just by Uber maybe?).
The desserts were not to be missed either. How can you beat churros and homemade ice cream sandwiches? Not to mention, the environment itself was very inviting- TVs inside to watch the game, cornhole and foosball to play with family, and plenty of outdoor heated space to stay warm in the winter.
We teamed up with Jalisco through our Charity Partnership Program to donate $1 from every Blood Orange Margarita sold through Jan. 3 to Catch Up On Lunch- a nonprofit that helps local students pay off school lunch debt.
