Catch Up on Lunch
Catch Up on Lunch is a local nonprofit (from the team at Queen Street Hospitality Group) dedicated to erasing students’ school lunch debt. The funds raised for this organization relieves local families of the financial strain from past-due lunch debt, allowing hundreds of children to eat quality lunches.
Catch Up On Lunch also aims to create an ongoing dialogue about food insecurities including spreading awareness about Lunch Shaming- “a practice in which students who have used up their school meal accounts are denied lunches and served cold, cheap food instead of a hot meal, or are sent home stamped on their hands to remind their parents to settle their balances”.
Through our TastemakersCHS Charity Partnership program, Jalisco Taqueria and Tequila agreed to donate $1 from every Blood Orange Margarita sold between Dec. 3 and Jan. 3 to Catch up on Lunch. Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen also agreed to donate $1 from every Granny’s Rum Punch sold between Dec. 13 and Jan. 13 to Catch Up on Lunch!
